Two-thirds of exhibitors and over half the trade visitors come from outside Germany, including 20 % from outside Europe.

Statements on Prolight + Sound
Prolight + Sound is unquestionably the most important fair for event technology, and 2017 went outstandingly well for us. In Frankfurt we meet all our rental customers, from hobby users through to the leading production companies. But the chief buyers for the large music retailers are also there. The response from the Benelux countries turned out to be remarkedly good this year, but also the response overall from markets across the world.
Prolight + Sound is essential for us, both for meeting the needs of our existing customers and for making new contacts. I would hazard a guess that 30 per cent of our customers are from German-speaking countries and 70 per cent from countries around the globe. The key regions for us are Western Europe, Eastern Europe and Asia, followed by the USA, Africa, Australia and South America.
Prolight + Sound went really well. Here in Frankfurt we are seeing good developments for our own company and also for the entire lighting industry. The show remains the most important one for us to showcase our company and our new products. For this reason, we develop our products with these dates specifically in mind and we put them into production shortly afterwards.
The end customers in the sector who are important for us – such as those in the theatre business and event technology – are among the people we meet at Prolight + Sound. This is very good, because, whilst this important group is well catered for during the year by our distribution network, we ourselves don’t have direct contact with them. We noticed a welcome mood of professionalisation at the fair.
We always use Prolight + Sound in a very targeted way to present our new products. The 2017 show went really well for us. We were very busy every day – we very much like the fact that the visitors are remarkably professional and interested.
The Frankfurt fair is a fixed date in our calendar and it’s always a very good event to bring new products to life. In addition to the core trade visitors at Prolight + Sound, whom we’ve reached really well, lighting designers are also important. This is because they are ultimately the ones who decide what they want to use in their productions. This has worked well again in 2017.
I’ve been impressed by the quality of the buyers here at Prolight + Sound. The customers are very well prepared, they come to buy, and some of them make their decisions for the whole year. The fair is exactly right for our market.
Prolight + Sound is such an important fair for us because it’s the only show where we come across a combination of customer groups like this – that’s to say, the rental market, concert market and event venues, in addition to the radio, TV, and theatre sectors. In 2017, we’d already made the same number of contacts by the mid-point of the fair as we’d made over the whole of previous year’s show.
The fair has gone well. What’s more, it’s been really good fun. We can count a good ten per cent more leads than last year. At Prolight + Sound we meet exactly the people that we need. That’s because our customers are usually a mix of technical directors, audio engineers and planners, who are the ones taking the decisions for their sectors.
Prolight + Sound is the most important fair in many different respects. Firstly, the customers are characterised by their high quality: they’re very professional and very international. What’s more, we are in just the right spot in Frankfurt to reach our most important target group: professional and semi-professional DJs. This is not the case at any other show.
We’ve met our big international customers and we’ve also generated exciting new contacts. Prolight + Sound 2017 has shown us that the semi-professional market continues to grow. We very much value this customer group, because they are open to new ideas, they give us valuable feedback and they are interested in discussion.
This is our first Prolight + Sound and we are impressed. We’re well known in the UK, but we’ve had few export customers up till now. Here in Frankfurt, we made a large number of really promising contacts right away, including companies from Russia, the Caribbean, Australia, Israel and, of course, Western Europe.
