Opus – German Stage Award – to celebrate its 25th anniversary: entrants now invited to submit their projects

The organisers of Prolight + Sound (31 to 3 March 2020) have rung the bell for the next round of the ‘Opus – German Stage Award’ competition and the search is on for productions that have used innovative event technology to create an outstanding visitor experience. The application phase has started, and Applicants are invited to submit their projects via the internet at www.prolight-sound.com/opus. The award winners will be presented with their awards during a gala evening event at Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt.

The Opus is given for outstanding artistic achievements in the organisation of theatre and music productions, concerts, tours and corporate events. It is presented annually to personalities from the sector in selected categories, e.g., lighting design, stage / set design and technical realisation.

Opus – German Stage Award – has been a component part of Prolight + Sound since 1995 and will thus be celebrating the 25th anniversary of its founding in 2020. The initiators of this honorary award are the German Media and Event Technology Association (VPLT), the European Association of Event Centres (EVVC) and Messe Frankfurt. Last year, the Opus honoured German director Kay Voges for his production of ‘The Parallel World’, a play held simultaneously at the ‘Schauspiel Dortmund’ and ‘Berliner Ensemble’ theatres. Additionally, French lighting designer Vincent Lerisson was singled out for his work on the ‘Women Worldwide’ Tour by the band Justice.

The deadline for entries is 8 November 2020. An expert jury comprising members of the associations and Messe Frankfurt, as well as other experts from the sector, will choose the winning projects from all entries received.
