Opus – German Stage Award: now open for entries

Sep 29, 2017

Opus – German Stage Award – is given annually for outstanding artistic achievements in the use of professional event technology at Prolight + Sound, International Fair of Technologies and Services for Entertainment, Integrated Systems and Creation, in Frankfurt am Main.

Outstanding projects by individuals, project teams or companies can be entered for the award at www.prolight–sound.com/opus until 12 November 2017.

Until two years ago, the candidates were nominated solely by an expert jury. In view of the large number of projects submitted, the entry method now used has proved to be highly successful. The presentation of Opus – German Stage Award – will take place in Saal Europe of Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre on 12 April 2018.

Opus – German Stage Award

The Opus – German Stage Award – has been given for outstanding achievements in the fields of theatre and stage productions, live events and open-air events since 2002 and is one of the most coveted awards in the event-technology sector. The conceptual partners of this honorary award are the Professional Lighting & Sound Association of Germany (Verband für Licht-, Ton- und Veranstaltungstechnik - VPLT), the European Association of Event Centers (Europäischer Verband der Veranstaltungs-Centren - EVVC) and Messe Frankfurt. It is given annually in alternating categories by an expert jury comprising association members, experts, journalists and representatives of Messe Frankfurt.

In 2017, Opus – German Stage Award – was given for two projects: in the category `Stage and Lighting Design`, it went to lighting and stage designer Christian Glatthor for the `Rea Garvey – Get Loud Open Air Tour 2016`.

The `Technical Realisation` category was won by `The Robbers` at the `Residenztheater` in Munich. The production of Schiller`s play by director and stage designer Ulrich Rasche placed Schiller`s figures in the wheelwork of a gigantic man-machine-music theatre.
